Thanks for pointing this out. I will see why the links were crosswired. I believe that there was an issue with this version as it looks like it it is still a draft based on the wide column on the right.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tammy commentedThe last Gulf War Review newsletter, was published in 2010. Yet, in the 2011 GWVITF report, you claim you will keep it and the web page updated. YOU FAILED!
http://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/gulfwar/resources.asp
From the 2012 report:
"VA’s past outreach mailings were limited to those who self-referred to the Gulf War Registry (about130,000) and provided mailing addresses.Through this collaboration with CDC, VHA
will expand its outreach to all those (about 700,000) who deployed to the Gulf War.OPH is planning to mail a one-page Gulf War Overview fact sheet in the early spring 2013."This is already late spring 2013, YOU FAILED AGAIN!
You want to know why veterans do not trust, or seek out the VA? look within.

George,
Thanks to the new “idea” for the feedback site. I look forward to more comments and feedback to your idea and others.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tammy commentedThe VA needs to do more, then have the IOM look through literature. Its easy enough to look at the VA electronic records, and see what percentage of us have sleep apnea, Chronic complex migraines, neurological issues, ect.
After all these years, the VA still does not recognize GWI. It should be a ratable medical issue. Since several studies have proven we have brain damage, GWI should be treated the same as TBI.
Focus on the big picture, and stop blaming it on stress.Tammy supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Tammy commentedThe VA should be the driving force in taking care of our vets, and their family. What happened to the data from when the VA did check some of the families?
Take the 100% vets (since they are the worst, and most likely to pass health problems to their spouse, and children), and give their families free VA care. It would not be long, until you have enough data to be statistically relevant. It would be cheaper then awarding millions of dollars to some university, to have them look at some of the families in their local area, which would not be statistically relevant enough for the IOM to look at.

An error occurred while saving the comment Tammy commented1/2 the statistics are there. It would not take much for someone to Pull up the Desert Storm vets, and printout the ones that have sleep apnea, insomnia,or other sleep issues, on the vets problem list. (Yes, there is lots more DS vets that are not receiving VA health care, some of that data can be had through the gulf war registry, but since that has been a joke for the last ten years, it is not much value). Take that number, and compare it to the normal statistics for sleep apnea.
With the VA and CDMRP research results, that show that the vast majority of us have brain damage, and symptom related to brain damage, should service connected as a residual of GWI.
Brain damage symptoms include.

An error occurred while saving the comment Tammy commentedUpdate the ratings levels. For many of us, Migraines are totally disabling, Many times preventing us from even completing daily activities of living, yet they only go to 50%. They should go to 100%.
CFS, for the 100% level, requires our doc to prescribe bed rest, yet all the VA, and other scientific literature says for the docs to never prescribe bed rest.
Several recent Gulf War Illness studies have shown that the majority of us have brain damage. You should add GWI to the ratings, and have it similar to TBI, The higher of 30%, or the total of the residuals.
Central sleep apnea should be recognized as a residual of GWI.
Add sleep disturbances to the ratings, lots of us only sleep for 3 hours. To get more, we need to load up on medications, which are not good for us in the long term.
In another 20 years, the medical/ scientific community will agree that Gulf War Illness, is a neurological degenerative disease, that fits between MS, and ALS. They will not admit it, until over 1/2 of us are dead, + 10 years.
