VA
THE VA DOESN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE GULF WAR VETERAN!
I am a Gulf War Veteran just like the rest of you. We cannot get care for our illness because no one in the VA will document it. I've been struggling with symptoms for 20 years now and I haven't found one doctor in the VA who will listen. No one even tells you that your illness may be related to GWI!! I have chronic asthma (hospitalized 6 times in 7 years), I also have Avascular Necrosis which is deteriation of the bones in my body from receiving too many steroids for the asthma caused by the Gulf War. I also had many of the other symptoms that we all suffer, ie., diarrhea, tennitis, muscle and bone pain, headaches, weekness, and blurred vision, just to mention a few. I've been told everything, EXCEPT that it may be related to the GWI. Come on VA - these vets don't need the cold shoulder, we need your support and acknowledgement that this is a serious illness that has affected us for so very long!

I agree with your comment I have had two primary care physicians one in Orlando and one in Philadelphia where they both saw the nerves in my arms and legs twitching for no reason and neither one of them would document it for my records.

It is very sad how the VETs from the Gulf War are treated. So many of them are so sick; but VA will not accept responsibility. You have to jump through hoops to get anything done. My husband has been sick for years; continue to receive push back from the VA. When he retired from the Army he wasn't given the exit physical as the soldiers are today. This is so unfare and prejudicial. Wake UP VA and take care of these men that served our country and earned the respect and care. They also deserve the compensation that comes with it. Families sacrificed during their military careers and are still sacrificing because of their illnesses???????

I was there in 1989 when the army says we were not there. I was asked to be in the gulf war study group by the VA due to all the symptoms I have. Thank God for my jump orders, or I could not prove it. We were in Jordan, and all over the middle east. Va said I was exposed to sarin gas. To this day I still get no help, just like all of you. I no longer go to the VA for medical. They are no help, and I was lucky if they even opened my file at a office visit. I feel like my hands are tied...
