Please provide your comments, questions, and suggestion on how we may improve the Research and Development section of the report.

My 27 year old husband who was in Iraq in 05/06 and 08/09 has the health problems of a 60 year old. He has the same sleep apnea mask my dad got at 68 and the gastric problems , sleeping difficulties, joint problems, odd rashes (just to name a VERY few issues), as someone who would NOT be eligible to even enlist now? He went in a healthy 18 year old and now is in chronic pain with what are now extreme emotional problems because of the mal treatment by superiors when he needed and tried to get help. He is doing med board but his back problem is the reason and what future is he looking at when no one can FIX or even treat his multiple health problems at 27 years old. He cant stay in and had to make IG complaint to even get the med b going. He was treated like an animal by chain of command instead of having support. How can they claim this is not a verified illness when it happened 20 years ago and is STILL happening now?

Stop the coverup. I'm writing my Congressmen, and demanding a regime change at the top of the VA. I encourage others to do the same.
The VA needs to recognize that GWI And its residuals are real. Trying to continue to cover it up after all these years, serves no purpose to anyone. Many of us are essentially house bound by our disabilities, yet the VA treats us like our problems are insignificant.
"VA's many failures of Gulf War veterans were addressed in an appropriately critical March 13th Congressional investigative and oversight hearing. This one is in Stars and Stripes, a leading publication for current military forces. One can only imagine the impact on troop morale of such sadly accurate news coverage regarding the federal government's ineptitude and covering up of serious deployment health outcomes.
To date, there has been no public announcement from VA Secretary Eric Shinkeki regarding how -- or if -- he has heard the message loud and clear and is pledging to correct these many serious wrongs. That is the story that should be published in troop publications like Stars and Stripes.
Instead, it's just more about VA's continued failures of Gulf War veterans, where 22 years after the war VA still has no effective treatments for Gulf War Illness, in several key offices still denies Gulf War Illness as a unique and identifiable condition even exists, and without a serious shakeup in VA's research and public health offices remains worthy of last year's "No Confidence" finding by the federal advisory body responsible for overseeing Gulf War health research efforts.
When will VA get it right?
-A.H."

Stop wasting resources trying to prove its in our heads.
Link the research so it is done through several VAMC's.Doing study that only accepts DS Vets that live within 25 miles of SLC VAMC, will be statistically irrelevant, and any data will be worthless. All a waste of time, resources, and money.
If the funds are for studying the problems that affect Veterans of the 1990-1991 Gulf War, then why are you using it to study problems that are from the new wars?
