The gulf war registry is supposed to look at everything, and determine anything you have wrong. You can go back as many times as you want, as new things develop. There is no limitations on what they are to look at.

The registry was not setup for treating us, but rather to see how many of us have what wrong.

The problem is that it stops there, The VA does not do anything with all the Data they have collected.

If the VA were to update and publish the data, they would find out how many of us have sleep apnea, Multiple Sclerosis, Brain problems, Migraines, ect. Then they need to use that data to create more presumptive, to cover what is wrong with us. Its only fair, to ask that our compensation package, adequately cover what it wrong with each of us.

Congress, and the VA have already accepted that we were exposed to such a toxic mix of stuff, that no one can sort out what exposures caused what damage to us.

The card is worthless, if the docs do not even read it. My PCP will only see me once a year, unless I need to see him for other issues, then he will only discuss that. 10-15 mins, is not enough time to get past hi. The docs do not want to take the time to listen to what we went through. Three times in the last year, the nurse has called me, and said my labs were off, and the doc wants me to take fish oil. Every time, I had to tell her that I have been taking fish oil for 4 or 5 years now. I'm still waiting.
I had a PCP, tell me that she never diagnoses anyone with CFS, and she has been at 4 VA's, and thats the policy at all of them.

Pick 5 VAMC's, and call any off the published numbers, and ask for the "Gulf War Registry". I'll bet at least 2 will tell you there is no such department.

Your fast letter 10-03, does not even cover Desert Storm.

I implore you to go and search out some of the Desert Storm forums, and spend some time reading what is going on with us.

This will have no impact for Gulf War 1 victims. For us, what records were there, are long gone.

This is a good idea, and can help future vets, but I thought this report was for gulf war 1 vets. It does not belong here.

Stop the coverup. I'm writing my Congressmen, and demanding a regime change at the top of the VA. I encourage others to do the same.

The VA needs to recognize that GWI And its residuals are real. Trying to continue to cover it up after all these years, serves no purpose to anyone. Many of us are essentially house bound by our disabilities, yet the VA treats us like our problems are insignificant.

"VA's many failures of Gulf War veterans were addressed in an appropriately critical March 13th Congressional investigative and oversight hearing. This one is in Stars and Stripes, a leading publication for current military forces. One can only imagine the impact on troop morale of such sadly accurate news coverage regarding the federal government's ineptitude and covering up of serious deployment health outcomes.

To date, there has been no public announcement from VA Secretary Eric Shinkeki regarding how -- or if -- he has heard the message loud and clear and is pledging to correct these many serious wrongs. That is the story that should be published in troop publications like Stars and Stripes.

Instead, it's just more about VA's continued failures of Gulf War veterans, where 22 years after the war VA still has no effective treatments for Gulf War Illness, in several key offices still denies Gulf War Illness as a unique and identifiable condition even exists, and without a serious shakeup in VA's research and public health offices remains worthy of last year's "No Confidence" finding by the federal advisory body responsible for overseeing Gulf War health research efforts.

When will VA get it right?

    -A.H."

Stop wasting resources trying to prove its in our heads.
Link the research so it is done through several VAMC's.

Doing study that only accepts DS Vets that live within 25 miles of SLC VAMC, will be statistically irrelevant, and any data will be worthless. All a waste of time, resources, and money.
If the funds are for studying the problems that affect Veterans of the 1990-1991 Gulf War, then why are you using it to study problems that are from the new wars?

You have alienated a whole generation of vets, it will take a lot more then a several year old posting on face book, and posters hung on the walls of the VAMC's to even get their attention. The majority of them, took it personally when you attacked our fellow DS vets, by saying it was all due to stress, or other BS that you did years ago.

The VA should be the driving force on taking care of this nations vets, but sadly its not. We had to get Congress involved in almost every step to get taken care of. WHY?
Without Congress directing the VA every step of the way, Where would we be?

Step up, and show us, show the future vets, that the VA can be the driving force in veterans care.

"VA is dedicated to improving the lives of Veterans of all eras and their eligible family members and survivors by providing them with the benefits and services they have earned." SHOW US, Take the lead..

Get a dose of reality. Those nine infectious diseases that you added, were taken as a slap in the face. Is there anyone that actually claimed any of them? then to say they must be diagnosed withing a year of us leaving service, when the vast majority of us have been out for more then 10 years? Was that a joke, to see if we are paying attention?
How about the research on Multiple Sclerosis that Congress directed you do? Where is that?

Use scientific studies involving humans, AND/OR animals, like Congress mandated, and you did for the Agent Orange studies.
By limiting the reviews to only studies involving humans you miss out on lots of relevant research, Since there is little research involving humans, and chemical agent exposure. Congress directed it, you did it for Agent Orange studies, why are you discriminating against us?
