As a service-connected Gulf War era veteran with the Southwest Asia medal Operation: Southern Watch
Supplements are expensive and most useful in improving quality of life long-term. Why do we have to pay for them? Why does it always have to be Big Pharma calling the shots on medicine when there are natural herbal products just as effective? And why does VA ignore dental emergencies? What about Professor Garth Nicolson getting ignored like Dr. Roger Billica? Thus these matters I submit for your review. Sincerely, Shaun K Orris.

Why is the VA so focused on the Gulf War when the Post-Gulf War Ops like Operation Southern Watch should also be studied. I have filed a claim for Gulf War Syndrome three times only to be told that there is no proof of service connection, when I served 5 times in the AOR under Operation Southern Watch. The VA needs to stop ignoring OSW/ONW and realize that those veterans were also serving in similar conditions as the original Desert Storm Vets. As for ODS service I served at Ramstein AB in Germany where I met aircraft coming from Down Range. The inside of the aircraft was usually covered in sand and who knows what else.

I agree. Supplements are expensive and It would be nice if the VA would help pay for them. When I returned from the gulf war and was very ill the doctors had no answers. I ask God for help and he showed me natural things and supplements like Michelle has mentioned. They slowly helped me through the years but I am alive. However, after retiring from the National Guard with no pay until I am 60 I moved and couldn't find a good paying job to help pay for everything. Also, I was tired of having to do all the extra stuff and wanted to be normal like I use to be and like others. However, as the years have gone on I have gotten worse again and need to get back on stuff. It seems hard to get motivated to do it and to get anything done now. The chemical drugs make me sick and make me feel worse. I try to not do too much of them. I am a beleiver in the natural after my experience and beleive they could help many. The problem is they cost a lot and we can't afford them. However, it is catch 22 if you can afford them and they help - you pay for them, they help you, then the VA can say you have no problems and never have to pay you. But if you don't take them you get sicker again and probably die. So, it would be nice if the VA could assist with it. Maybe, if you are a gwi vet they could give you a stipend each month to go towards that even if it helps you and you may not look ill. It is necesary you continue.

Yes, I agree. The VA had me on 5-6 different medications. Result; toxicity that had me bedridden for 7 weeks and then hospitalized for 7 days. All testing could NOT come up with a medical diagnosis for illness. I have since weaned myself OFF traditional meds and am doing natural again. IF I could get all that my body needed to maintain baseline health, it would cost almost 1,000 a month. I include fresh, organic food in this estimation as well as green suppliments, and other natural anti-oxidants and vitamins. The VA was willing to pay a ton of money for the meds that (literally) almost killed me, but not a penny for the homeopathic route I have had to take.

Be very careful with chinese herb supplements, they contain metal.
If you've ever had an MRI with contrast, I suggest you search mrisideeffects.com and search gadolinium or fda.gov-gadolinium, they won't tell you it's metal, but sx can show up months to years later, via the skin, skin biopsy makes the diagnosis. The VA in Denver uses Univ of Col dental students, they have a scandal re narcotics signouts, non licensed DDS's and the Dean denies it. -
