After 20+ years I was diagnosed with ptsd but only recieved a 30% rating. what about the past 20 years of hell loosing jobs and destroyed relationships ect. ect. I also have been trying to explain to my doctor that not all of my problem with the cronic fatigue i experience is not due to my weight .I was experiencing it long before i got big. Which th weight is a product of the depression I fight every day. They make you feel like you are trying to get a free ride or something. I have never taken govt. assist. and have always made my own way. I put my ass on the line for my country and would do it again in a second.Show some respect. I only want the help and compensation I deserve no more no less.

hello Guys, i wanted to inform you that in recent studies and hand outs at the va, there is a note that some and most combat Veterans should be rated at 50% for ptsd, and non combatant at 30%, but there is always other issues besides combat that classify you at more than 30%. depression, aggression, and hatred towards military movies & sources of military operations during war... go back and file a claim for more compensation towards and existing claim.. you'll get 20% more but you have to prove it strongly and argue it...

I know the feeling from both of you. I have the Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Sleep Apnea, Weight Problems, I could go on and on. I feel as if they think I am looking for a hand out. I have worked ever since my discharge in 92. Pretty much always had good insurance and at the present time have a great job. And it looks as if my job might be on the line. Since having pretty good insurance I have been trying to do thing through other than the VA. But none of the doctors that I see will even consider the Gulf War illness, all except one and he is a reserve affiliated physican, and if was not in the military he probably would not recognize it either. I was told by some of the VA employees a way to speed the process up would be to go to the ER and complain every chance you get and another said to go to the ER and threaten suicide that will get their attention and look at things more in depth. Well, if you take into consideration that this is all happening already (know it for a fact after working in a healthcare job) in VA and civilian facilities, think of how much money is being wasted that could be used for other things such as a for diagnosis of this illness.

I feel you. I have been fighting my Chronic Fatigue and Fibro, Tinnitis, depression (reactive to GWI), and other health issues naturally and alone for 20+ years. Now that I am unable to fight effectively alone, I went to the VA for help. 18 months later, I am still waiting (claim in Developement Phase) and afraid I will get a crappy rating and about to lose my job due to illness/mental break-downs at work in the last year.
