I also have been trying to explain to my doctor that not all of my problem with the cronic fatigue i experience is not due to my weight .I was experiencing it long before i got big. Which th weight is a product of the depression I fight every day. They make you feel like you are trying to get a free ride or something. I have never taken govt. assist. and have always made my own way. I put my ass on the line for my country and would do it again in a second.Show some respect. I only want the help and compensation I deserve no more no less.

2. I KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY BODY WHY WON'T THE VA DOCTOR'S LISTEN????

   I am a Gulf War Vet. that became sick in Iraq. During the Oil Fires, I started coughing up Black crap. I was told not to worry about it. My coughing got worse when I got back to the States. I told the Army Doctors that it was do to the Oil Fires but they didn't believe me. I ended up getting a Medical Discharge, because of it. Now I have a mass between my lungs. GO FIGURE.. Also.. I have been having problems with my hips for the last 8 to 10 years.. The VA Dr.s have told me that, "IT'S ALL IN YOUR BACK" or "THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR BACK IT'S ALL IN YOUR HIPS".. So which is it?? Well I found out. I was right.. It was my hips.. Now that I know what's wrong they won't tell me what caused it..or I should say that they the Dr.s say that the GULF WAR has nothing to do with my hips.. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!! I have avascular necrosis. Which I have to have total hip replacement in both hips.. At the age of 44.. That's just like having my GALL BLADDER taken out in 1995, had nothing to to with the GULF WAR.. The VA Dr.s NEED to LISTEN TO THE VETERANS more about our conditions. AND NOT TURN A DEAF EAR,, TELLING THE VETERANS IT'S ALL IN OUR HEADS..

3. Noticed that the report doesn't open on the page that allows comments. Can you fix so we can comment? All I get is a server error.

   Tried several times to get to the URL that allows you to comment. Problem is, once you click on the report hyperlink, a blank page opens up and then an error dialog box opens up. Can the script be checked so comments to the draft report can occur?

4. Care when submitting a new claim.

   I have numerous illnesses that can be related to my time in the Gulf. But, like many Vets who already have a disability rating, it is a crap shoot to submit these new found disabilities. The VA will open your entire file and may lower existing ratings while considering the new claims. I am, and have been 100% 'IU' (Individual Unemployable' for nearly a decade now. Although my current conditions worsen and the prescence of new conditions persist, I dare not complain nor submit the new claims. I was also a former Service Officer for one of the Nationally known VSO's. They are taking this same stand. The VA many times (depending on the rater) lower your ratings. The VA needs to protect the Veterans better then their old 5, 10, and 20 year rules on disability ratings. Veterans should be able to submit for increased claims or new claims without the VA reassessing the Veterans current disability ratings.

5. Why is there no research into the Anthrax Vaccine?

   I am a vet who recieved the Anthrax Vaccine Gen-2 from 1998 to 2000. There is a consistent corelation between the vets who suffer from advers reaction to the vaccine and GWS. I developed Celiac Disease (an autoimmune disease that affects the gastroinestinal area as well as your brain and other organs) and have multiple mental and physical issues that are listed for GWS. My wife has fibromyalga that was brought on from the Vaccine. We can trace the ineptness of the Vaccine for GW Vets and our current generation. It bothers me that VA and DOD has divided us into 2 catagories and attempt to deny that my generation has had any problems. I have read the as many as 1 in 6 who have recieved the Vaccine has suffered longterm medical issues due to it. In both my wife's case and mine we are being treated but it was like pulling teeth to get verification that we were affected by the Vaccine. I ask this question for 2 reasons: it seems that we should all be under the same catagory (GWS) until they can come up with and exact reason that the two long term health issues are not connected, and it would make my generation get the proper care more quickly if we were able to have the same presumtives. I have had to file individual claims for each issue and my wife is not even sure how to file for fibromyalga, which I believe needs to be filed ASAP if we can fall into a presumptive with her. I just have researched this for the last couple years so that I could figure out my issues and to help me not blow out my brains, and I have found far too many similarities to not be coincidental.

   You have delivered a great report, as the other reports along this line. Seems the VA, including Regional Offices, have the freedom to either conform/not conform specifically to the Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Guess it's the same with the other "Conditions". Your report(s) seem to realize that there are problems associated with that conflict, at least read that way. I've filed twice and been denied as not associated with the Gulf War. Didn't have it before I left but starting having it while there and to this day. Made to feel like I'm begging. Will just have to live with it I guess. Would be nice if your Committee had the freedom to review some of the claims and how they were adjudicated. Wouild open their eyes.

7. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and multiple sclerosis

   This report stated that the "ORD is committed to funding research that improves VA’s understanding and ability to treat illnesses, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS), which may occur at higher prevalence in Gulf War Veterans". I would like to focus, in particular, on the diagnosis of ALS at much higher rates than other veteran population groups in general. As a registered nurse at a private hospital I personally witnessed the terminal wean of a Gulf veteran with ALS. As a VA employee, I witnessed the effects of this diagnosis, and subsequent death, on a fellow VA employee who was a Gulf War veteran.

   Prior studies by the VA indicated that we (Gulf War (GW) Veterans) had as much as a 2 to 4 times greater risk of developing this disease than the general population. Yet, the VA has opened the gates for service-connection for ALS to essentially all veterans because of a one-times greater risk for "all" veterans. In so doing the VA has minimalized the stark chasm between the rate of this disease in GW vets versus other veteran population groups. The VA should conduct the necessary research into the cause or causes of this disease in GW vets (MS as well), in particular. This may provide an explanation for other unexplained illnesses from which we suffer. Certainly the other veteran groups should also be service-connected for this disease, but please don't ignore the obvious distinction between the rate of incurrance for other veteran populations and the GW veterans.

8. When will the Gulf War Discrimination End?

   It has now been 21 years and VA now wants to hear our comments? I have noticed on many Vet pages the number of deferred Gulf War claims. This can't be due to improperly filled out paperwork, which only means group discrimenation. How can a system such as the Veterans Administration do this to it's own. This is not what Persident Lincold had formulated then for now. The only ones that control this at this time is the present VA Administration. Shame on you Mr. Gingrich and Sec. Shinseki, one saving is I didn't have to serve under ether of you in combat!

9. No mention of funding in the report - Anywhere

   The report only mentions curatives for communication and statistical metrics within govt. How does that equate to compensating the suffering? With no real fiduciary committment, the report is just hollow promises. Please tell me this isn't so.. Can we not cancel one weapons dev project to do the right thing by our loyal troops?

10. A Toxic Waste Dump

    When you take into consideration CIA's report entitled Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction dated Oct 2002 and the Army's report entitled Chemical and Biological Defense U.S. Forces Are Not Adequately Equipped to Detect All Threats dated January 1993, used in conjunction with a phenomenom only found in the Middle East and that is atmospheric ducting it all comes together.

    Fox vehicles alarming constantly, senior echelon announcing they were false alarms. Then recognize the DOD was quick to provide field changes to increase their capability. Pvt Fisher coming into contact with Mustard Gas and CDR Dunn processing the sample in Iraq getting a positive reading, but briefing Congress stating the findings were insufficient. I can't help but refer back to the UNSCOM inventories in Iraq of weapons storage facilities, and the coverups provided by Saddam. We knew Iraq used CW against Iran and the Kurds in 1988, I was in the Persian Gulf then. Coalition Forces bombed the ammunition facilities during DS, forcing chemicals into the atmosphere. Anywhere there was a hole in the atmosphere the chemicals would have dumped out onto unexpected troops. Read any Navy Lessons Learned message in the COMIDEASTFOR AOR and you will find this to be a fact, with regards to the ducting system in the atmosphere. I could take a line of sight circuit that normally operates at 30 miles line of sight, and talk 450 miles two or three times per month if the conditions were right.

    I've since had veterans sitting across my desk, as a CVSO, and have listen to numerous cases where they were under scud attack and afterwards experienced typical symptoms of CW release. As an Enlisted Surface Warfare qualified sailor, the prerequisite of which was Chemical, Biological, Radiation (CBR) Training, my initial reaction in DS is they were experiencing attacks from nerve agents.

    Dr. Robert Haley brought that revelation to light. But you hear very little these days. Most veterans in my county want nothing to do with the VA after receiving their denial letters in the claim process. Not sure if 20 years later, this is really going to convince them to even consider participating. They need more than promises and health care they end up paying for.

    We have had a little success with GWS claims, and for that we're grateful, but for those that were denied, they still have the chronic conditions today, just a medical doctor put a diagnosis to them and they're paying to be treated, outside the VAMC - they were initially told by the VAMC it was a reaction because of nerves. That is a stigma that will follow the VAMC and VA from here until their demise.

11. RE-EVALUATION OF HEALTH STATUS OF SPOUSES AND CHILDREN OF PERSIAN GULF WAR VETERANS.

    Since 2004 report was out .Spouses and Children issues are stopped from RAC or Task Force Report.

    VA Environmental Agents Service examined "Only" 1,380 spouses and Children as of August 2002.(VA-053 VA Environmental Agents Service Spouses and Children Program )

    None of Spouses had miscarriage or stillbirth where Mysteriously Never got involved this survey. (Pregnancy outcomes among U.S. Gulf War veterans: a population-based survey of 30,000 veterans.(2001)

    Therefore,I don't believe that these numbers and these reports to be correct. I believe that these issues need further review and researched.

12. Typical VA.

    Typical of VA. Create a task force 20 years later, put Gulf War Illness in the title, then claim to be doing something about it. Here's a suggestion for your task force: try finding any VA doctor that uses the term, "Gulf War Illness". Here's another suggestion, FOLLOW THE LAW! rather than wasting so much effort at trying to get around the law and screwing a veteran. The GWV's Undiagnosed illness law was passed a very long time ago (1997 or 1998), after YEARS of veterans being told by doctors that they could not figure out what was wrong, and right after the law was passed, all of a sudden veterans were being given diagnoses to get around the law, no matter if that diagnosis had any basis in medical fact, and no matter how many years that veteran was told the doctor could not figure it out. A veterans claim was then denied under that law because there was a frivolous diagnosis. Here is another suggestion for your "task force": Immediately develop a way to mandate all VA personnel who provide medical care are trained in whatever memo-of-the-week you are putting out. It does not give confidence in any part of the VA system when a veteran is more informed than the doctor on what VA policy is. Most don't take the time to read your memo or do your "training", or go through it just to check off a box and forget about it 5 minutes later. Here's a suggestion for veterans: If you run into a quack who obviously could care less about veterans, file a complaint with your state board of medical licensure. Each state requires VA doctors to be licensed in the state they practice in. If a few VA doctors found their license was threatened, things might improve. Go to a civilian hospital, and you see information everywhere on this complaint process. Go to the VA and there is...nothing. Or a patient rep or ombudsman who could care less. Here is another suggestion for veterans: Get familiar with the "research" the VA is doing in our name. Quite often it is repeated from research done years ago. There is independent research that is being done now, and the VA is working overtime to get that stopped because it is affecting their gravy train.

13. As a service-connected Gulf War era veteran with the Southwest Asia medal Operation: Southern Watch

    Supplements are expensive and most useful in improving quality of life long-term. Why do we have to pay for them? Why does it always have to be Big Pharma calling the shots on medicine when there are natural herbal products just as effective? And why does VA ignore dental emergencies?     Make C-file available to Vets and follow Title 38 rule WHEN IN DOUBT SIDE WITH VET. The garbage I read in my C-file opened my eyes and gave me a clear picture of why my claim stalled. Most of the notes were false or half missing (the parts that support my case). If I didn't know my case I would say I was reading somebody else's C-file.

17. STOP DENYING disability compensation! Include any/all autoimmune & neurological diseases/disorder as presumptive illness.

    Assume Veteran's service in Theater of Operations (SWA) is cause of any/all autoimmune/neurological disease/disorders. Assume any display of symptoms during/after Gulf War service is connected/caused/is a result of sevice in SWA & compensate. Don't wait to admit/compensate Vets like those who are sick/dying due to Agent Orange.

18. VA Needs to start evaluating vets from that era for TBI since it was not done.I just found this out after 8 years of being medical discharge

    VA Needs to start checking vets for TBI who are experiencing seizures and tennitis. I just found this out after being medically discharged from the Army 8 years ago.

    Where is the research into propellants used for patriot and MLRS weapons systems, and the affects on surrounding military personnel, especially those troops doing physical security around these batteries or conducting missions around missile volleys air and ground war.

20. Group of docters sit down with patient instead of pt seeking individual drs throught a yr

    Need a group of drs one overseening, three examing. Then set treatment plan. This way all drs are in sync . Pt does not have go throught 4 visitis a month , being pushed to next dr. The blame game stops and treatment plan starts. Ortho sends to rehumatology,they send to neuro, they send to primary, primary sends topain clinic.
